The first words out of my Dads mouth when I told him I had a boy wereYES!!! The beginning of my football team!!! Unfortunately, he was never able to see Austin play in High School but I know he shares the pride I feel today. It has nothing to do with touchdowns,tackles or playing time...but all about Austins tenacity and sticking with this sport for 4 years,never quitting (and he reeeeallly wanted to at times) but didnt. The humble acceptance of his role and the enjoyment of wearing the uniform and being part of the team. Hes motivated, not by me, but by the memory of my Dad and his Papas dream of the Holyoke football team For a child that I was told wouldnt attend public school or ever play organized sports I think hes doing just fine. Sometimes its not about how you play the game....but why. So very, deeply proud of my son.
