The folks who argue we are acting prematurely are saying we should - TopicsExpress

The folks who argue we are acting prematurely are saying we should wait and hold off with the recall process and let due process take its course. Some people dont fully understand our position and stance. We are attempting to recall the selectman for putting us in harms way via LEGAL RISK with their malicious and maligned decision to continually act in complete contradiction with the advice of our Town Counsel. John Vasapolli is our towns Chief Legal Officer and has been for 32 years and has served over 8 other TM administrations and when he is asked to opine on a matter, the BOS must adhere to it. In this one instance the BOS ignored Town Counsels opinion(actually 3 separate opinions were ignored) and continued with the meeting that led to the suspension of the TM. He went on to explain that continuing in the process could expose our town to significant legal risk. The fact that the 4 members of the BOS that are the subject of our recall efforts would act with such callousness and disobey the advice of our Town Counsel is grounds in itself to have them recalled to avoid any similar risks from being taken by this board and to protect our towns assets. The results of the situation with the currently suspended TM has no bearing on the pursuit of a recall. Many people have questioned why we would do this when it could cost the town thousands. Yes, it will cost us somewhere around $20,000, however we dont have a choice as the current board has opened us up to legal risk of $1 million or much more (just look at the $1.9 million dollar settlement that Lynn paid to its Comptroller in a very similar case earlier this year). A recall is an absolute must in order to protect the residents and taxpayers from this happening again and again and to attempt to protect the town from this careless group of 4 who continually put our town assets at risk. It must stop! I dont know about anyone else but the only assessment I want to pay is for a new high school, to better our schools and to add to our town services, I dont want to pay to settle lawsuits because 4 people couldnt swallow a little pride and do what we elected them to do, uphold our Town Charter and listen to the advice of our Town Counsel. Enough is enough!!
