The following was sent to me from a Yeshivah member, who asked me to post it anonymously: If Rabbi Groner was still with us today things would be very different.Things would be better by a wide margin.Rabbi Groner had his faults & his good points like all mortals.From my dealings with him he was immediate & unflinching when it came to conceding he had made a mistake.I personally saw him reject out of hand & dismiss a fiscal proposition that would have benefited the institution because the proposition was not kosher.So what would Rabbi Groner have done differently from day one of the investigation?In my opinion he would have told the truth,the whole truth & nothing but the truth.He would have demanded that each & every one of the community who had any information do exactly the same.Rabbi Groner would have made a detailed & heartfelt apology to the victims & the families of the victims & indeed the whole community.The apology would have been from the heart & it would have touched the hearts of those who had been harmed.It would have healed a lot of the wounds.Those who have tried to intimidate victims & their advocates & suppress the truth have done Rabbi Groner a great disservice.They have besmirched Rabbi Groners reputation in the most despicable way.To suppose that the tactics employed by the YC management in dealing with this scandal have been in accordance with Halacha is outrageous.It is not those who have done their darnedest to expose the truth that have besmirched Rabbi Groners reputation it is the current management.It is a betrayal of trust & should only reflect on the management & their supporters & not the community at large.Never mind that this problem has been shown to be endemic in other religions & tragically within the frum community worldwide,that is no excuse.Jewish values are supposedly absolute not relative.Jewish values are Torah values.To somehow validate disgraceful behaviour on the basis that it happens in the non Jewish world is a disgrace.
