The four quarter-finals produced some excellent Rackets over the two days. ATB played a tight and measured game to defeat Snell in three straightforward games. Billings dominated the first game but this inspired Coyne to level at one-all. Billings again swept ahead and the fourth game was tight, but it was Billings who came through. The following evening Hoptons all round game was too strong for Portz, although he certainly played his part in a good contest. In the final match, Owen stunned world champion, Stout, by taking the tightest of first games 17/16 - Stout missing out on a game point in the set to three. Stout dug deep to level the match with steady serving from 7-all. Owen again threatened in the third game but Stout was too strong and the fourth game became a formality.
