The front and back cover artwork on PB$ is excellent. I look forward to seeing more of Kirsty Whitlock and Dave Kirkwoods work. Dominique Fortans, Red Sparrow and Girl is wonderful and I keep going back to sneak another peak. There is a vulnerability in the piece and yet a wariness - the girl and bird at eye level. Im still thinking about it. I also love her portrayal of Hand and Birds - very unusual. In fact, all the artwork in PB$ is great and Im delighted with the introduction of new (to me) artists. Not being a poet, I tend to head straight for the flash fiction, etc. Clodagh OBriens Galaxy is a well crafted piece with strong imagery. As an aside I should say that I swore off chocolate for the New Year so the title sounded yum. Having read this piece, the name conjures up an image of a hairy arse! So thanks Clodagh, you saved me a fortune in aversion therapy! In other words, the imagery has stayed with me and thats always a sign of a great scene. Melissa Diems My Writing Life is heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. I wish I had half her strength. I havent read all of PB$ yet but Ive been dipping into the poets and think its a great line up this year. Michael Corrigans Wulf Nation about the Celtic Tiger years is one of my favourites so far. His words evoke the sensation of raw, visceral greed lying just beneath the Saville Row suit surface of our Celtic Tiger Cubs. Of course he may come on here and tell me it was actually about two old biddys fighting over a bargain but I wont believe him! ;) For me, the mark of a good poem is when it strikes a chord with the reader and reminds her/him of something they have witnessed, even on a subliminal level. Other poets that spring to mind are BeRn, Twelve Money Haiku which paints a picture of the effect money can have, on some... leave me with some idealistic notions, please. PC Vandalls Re: Incarnation is a clever poem (and title). Seth Crook Your Pieces of Eight and Siobhán Bledsoes August 2013 are just two of the many that caught my eye. I havent read all of PB$ yet but, so far, I havent found a bad poem in it. Well done Peadar and Collette on producing another fine edition.
