The geothermal area in Tolantongo. This is a breathtaking place hidden deep inside an enormous valley. This natural wonder was unknown to the world 40 years ago. Only a few indiginous people knew of it. Today there is a collective of landowners who operate tourism here and preserve this incredible nature. Arriving in Tolantongo we find a hot river, hot waterfalls, a massive cave with hot water inside as well as waterfalls inside the cave and a tunnel with hot water spraying out through the walls creating a sauna. All natural and in massive quantities. Being Icelandic I am quite familiar with geothermal wonders and I have to say this is hard to top.
