The goddess known as “Wisdom” appears, here and there in the Hebrew Bible, the Christian New Testament, and in the Apocrypha as a kind of alternative to the mainstream monotheism of Hebrew and Christian faith. No monotheism is ever entirely consistent in remaining true to the exclusive character of the divine. There are always those that dabble in talk about devils, angels and spirits but on the other end of the spectrum are also those who have realized that the greater claim of a life of faith is a devotion to wisdom, truth, knowledge, understanding, and a growth out of the darkness of ignorance, superstition, and magical thinking.
