The government fights back. Not unexpected - a predictable action. But it sets a disturbing precedent that is likely to be copied around the world. The more I study this I realise those that have trod this path already are right. The power and the assumptions of the power of corporations, their licence to act the way they do sanctioned by government, are the main instigators of destruction and devaluation of natural resources, finding ever greater excuses and reasons to continue to do colossal damage. Somehow their accountability to the people who they say they serve but actual exploit grow less and less. The government devises laws to make the peoples challenge to their practices impotent. The use of divide and rule, punitive punishment, economic emasculation and sustained media discrimination to discredit any protest is enough to convince any intelligent and responsible person that things are deeply, deeply wrong. The people who care are hurting bad. The government answer to their prayers is to think of ways if criminalising them - which is criminal in itself.
