The greatest casualty is being forgotten. This is not just a clever tagline for an organization. Thanks to war veterans, starting with WWII and especially Vietnam, and still to this day, with present day wars, PTSD as been extensively researched.... and after a trauma, a big welcome home, you are safe is so important. Appreciation and acknowledgment from as many people as possible in the community can determine whether or not someone struggles with PTSD for the rest of their life. Thanks to these veterans, we now know this is also true for survivors of any trauma, including any kind of violence or accident. Usually, with an accident, the community naturally knows what to say. With survivors of violence, people are more uncomfortable and clam up. But it really helps to reach out. Thank you to all Veterans out there. woundedwarriorproject.org/
