The hardest part about this is struggling to reconcile your independent identity with what is good. Mike Brown is killed and Im forced to justify his innocence regardless of the fact that mere existence isnt justification for execution. Video comes out implicating him in a robbery, I have to justify that in our AMERICAN JUSTICE SYSTEM (because Blacks are still entitled to EVERYTHING that is reserved for the citizen) he is still not sentenced to death for a robbery. Looters, attempt to cause trouble during this peace, I am forced to justify why these looters arent indicative of the nature of all black people, even as other protestors attempt to keep them from looting. There always seems to be a need for my explanation of MY existence when a transgression is committed either by or against people that look like me.
