The historic Lorenz Hotel in downtown Redding is currently undergoing a renovation which includes a technological face lift. This week Redding-based PowerHouse Solar is completing the process of converting the 112 year old landmark buildings electrical power system to more efficient solar energy. PowerHouse Solar President Bruce Blake says that the custom design of the system will not detract from the historic elegance of the building and will greatly reduce the energy costs. The solar panels are on a roof mounted rack system which based on the design offers the most energy efficiency and will be unseen by the public. The Lorenz Hotel was originally built in 1902 and is the only 4 story building remaining from Reddings early development which now serves as affordable senior residences.
