The history of the Feast of Corpus Christi, following upon a Eucharistic miracle in Bolsena. The feast began in Orvieto when the Pope was in residence there. I was there last October and saw the relic of the Eucharistic miracle. In fact, Pope Benedict had declared a holy year in Orvieto, and I was able to pray for a plenary indulgence. St. Thomas Aquinas was living there and wrote his famous Eucharistic hymns there. It is also the place where Christ spoke to him from the Cross, saying Thomas, you have written well of me!
