The history of the quota system in Malawi could be summarized as follows: 1. MCP introduced it 2. UDF abolished it 3. DPP reintroduced it 4. PP maintained it Technically, I can’t pretend, I have never understood why the system is not right but politically however, I have came to agree that maybe DPP could have done better. I believe that in a democracy it is good for leaders to be sensitive the concerns of the people and it is good to learn from the past. When MCP first introduced the quota system leading people to start changing their names, changing their home districts and the suffering the MCP caused with the system I think perhaps DPP should have just gone straight into its ultimate plan of building more universities instead of reintroducing the system. There are a lot of things that MCP did that people in Malawi would never want to witness again. For example, if it was still MCP, the people that were vocal against the reintroduction of the system would have ended up being crocodile food. --- No MCP in Malawi, never never again!
