The holidays are a special time in my family. We love to cook, - TopicsExpress

The holidays are a special time in my family. We love to cook, bake, make our decorations, and enjoy quality time with one another. This week, families across America will be doing much of the same; Jewish families and their friends will gather to light Hanukkah’s first candle tomorrow night, and most of us will sit down to a special dinner together on Thanksgiving. President John F. Kennedy once said, “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” Appreciating what life has to offer and expressing gratitude is something Brad and I teach our girls. We see the fruit of those lessons whenever we get a tight hug around the neck or see the girls volunteering in our community. Those beautiful moments are when I’m absolutely certain that everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be. But we must also remember those who are not so fortunate. We must continue to try to find solutions for the homeless, hungry, mentally ill, and others, who life has challenged in ways most of us will never experience. Today, I want to say thank you to YOU for being an important part of my world. You, along with the rest of my friends, colleagues, and constituents, provide me with support and encouragement that enrich my life. I also want to thank our active military, reserves, law enforcement, doctors/nurses, and other first responders who will be working the holidays to protect the rest of us while we enjoy our family time. I am grateful for their bravery and strength every day. I wish you a Happy Hanukkah and a blessed Thanksgiving made extraordinary by the love of good friends and family.
