The ice bucket challenge has been making me think a lot. Normally - TopicsExpress

The ice bucket challenge has been making me think a lot. Normally I oppose charitable giving in public , unless there is a specific reason for it being public. But I am realizing now , after seeing so many people donate money to a charity , because it was the cool thing to do , perhaps my logic was flawed. Most people do things to make other people like them, and also to make themselves feel special. People do not buy 200$ yoga pants because there so much better than 30$ yoga pants, they buy them so that when they wear them other people will see that this person has enough $$ to buy that brand , they think this sets them apart from the crowd and makes them special and likable . I know this is actually a severe form of insecurity , and I also know that insecurity can be disposed of by building real INNER character and beauty. Seeing how the ice bucket challenge used marketing something as cool to get people involved who normally wouldnt be , Im now thinking charity and involvement should be given a new face . Repackaged if you will. How can we make it seem cool to buy the 30$ yoga pants and donate the 170$??? If we can make people think thats what will make them feel special and make others like them we can start rebuilding our society. The best part is, the more a superficial insecure person can be led into an altruistic lifestyle , the more inner value they will build , the less insecure they will feel. This trickles down and builds momentum and maybe we have a better world . So my question , is how can we make giving cool?
