The idea is to test every person with ALS by using their own cells in a dish. iPS cells can replicate the very person who has ALS. Instead of using the human as a test subject, the ability to use their own cell line instead of animal models opens the spectrum of testing exponentially. Ideally, that pALS in a dish could be tested as an individual with their very specific ALS until something responds or monitoring gives insight to that person vs treating all pALS the same.
