The image integrity credibility reputation and independence of higher judiciary is tarnished by the revelations made by fomer supreme court Judge Katzu against the then chief Justice Lahoti and spat between them over the appointment of Madras high court Judge about a decade ago and recent appointments of supreme court Judges from the Bar . This is proved that even the highest court is nit above board and vulnerable to pressures and political influences. This signals dangerous bells to our justice system and democratic polity.It is high time and imperative to formulate a foolproof system for the appointments in higher judiciary to maintain its independence and integrity.
