The incident at KCCA yesterday in which a suspect in custody lost - TopicsExpress

The incident at KCCA yesterday in which a suspect in custody lost her child is regrettable, to say the very least. It is my sincere hope that the weight of this incident however painful is not burried in politics or unnecessary argument and finger pointing. A child died and there is a grieving mother. I am alive to her status as a suspect. But surely the least we can do is ensure she is either granted police bond or, if she has been charged, grsnted bail expediently so that she is allowed to grieve outside of custody. I am hopeful that the KCCA administration will offer an unequivocal public apology and make as public a commitment to bring their law enforcement officers and any public servant on or around those premises in order. Nothing, not even a cleaner city or better paid law enforcement officers can make up for a lost life. This is a truly dark mark that we need to learn from. In the end, the city belongs to the poor just as much as it does to the rich, and to law enforcement as it does to those that live in it. We must find a way to coexist.
