Poverty is the biggest cause of people going to prisons, mental illness, school failure and family problems. Results from the Basic Income pilot study in Canada: 1. Hospital visits dropped 8.5 percent. 2. Reduction in rates of psychiatric hospitalization, and in the number of mental illness-related consultations with health professionals.
