The is no use in having greater numbers (in the church) if the whole thing is diluted. ~Francis Schaeffer. If truth ceases being truth, and Gods word is watered down. Then were gathering on Sunday for what purpose? To get a self help pep talk? Receive prosperity preaching? Be a social club? The church exists to present to mankind their sinfulness through the law. And with the aid of the Holy Spirit to bring them to conviction and a point of realizing their need for a savior. Then pointing them to that savior. But thats hard. It doesnt win you many friends. You may lose the friends you have. Your family may ostracize you. It may bring hardships. Its hard. And scary. Christianity in its truest form is not for the meek. Its scary, so we settle for comfort and fluff that challenges or offends no one. And we make Christ of no effect. It becomes just another form of amusement or entertainment, or shallow self helpism. We have become the Laodacian church.
