The issue of Air BNB and short-term renting is coming to Rockland. Are you an Air BnBer? Or do you live in a neighborhood where you have concerns about vacation rentals? The city will be looking into how best to regulate this issue. Some feel Air BNB helps out homeowners, paying the mortgage and taxes, while bringing more tourist revenue to town from folks who wouldnt otherwise pay higher B&B prices -- while other feel its an unfair competition to legitimate lodging businesses, B&Bs and Inns. Another issue is how this affects housing stock in a town -- potentially driving up prices and creating a shortage of affordable apartments for year-round residents.
