The issue of chainsaw jackets as part of guidance for required PPE - TopicsExpress

The issue of chainsaw jackets as part of guidance for required PPE for chainsaw operators has been brought up again. There is a proposal in place that the provision and use of chainsaw protective jackets should be included in new guidance from HSE. Chainsaw protective jacket to BS EN 381-11 will be added for use both on and off the ground where justified by risk assessment. The justification for this change offered in the proposal is that chainsaw jackets are now lighter and the heat stress issue has been addressed with the use of better materials and design improvements. It looks like this has been written by someone who has never worn one of these jackets.
