The jagged jade coral outlines the shark’s smile like a sick, - TopicsExpress

The jagged jade coral outlines the shark’s smile like a sick, preset photo frame. The fins at her feet cycle forever down, waters foaming. The grinning Great White momentarily vanishes, her feet unconsciously propelling her. Centimeter, after centimeter. Closer to the fish. Her lips tug, greedy, at the mouthpiece shoved in like a pacifier. A trapped scream flickers in the amygdala; adrenaline sears through her body like a snake of fire. The frames of her goggles force her gaze forward, her eyelashes, like her mother’s, brushing against the tempered glass. Sharky’s leiomano close. She pulls a flipper back through water that parts like thick paste. His tail fin arches back, prepped to spring. A bitter salt lingers on her tongue. She swallows. A surge forward, her oxygen tank a mocking fin, she kicks beneath the beast’s ghostly belly. A cloud of phlegm-y water creeps up towards Sharky’s snout. Adrenaline a banshee in her every thought, she streaks forward, quick as she can. The beast grins, its vortex of a maw widening just enough for her athletic frame. He catches the current, slipping forward to close upon her torso. Pulses of marrow burst, blood vessels pop like pixy sticks, mushy grey matter of her brain obliterated into obsidian depths. Just looking for a little help here: any thoughts on whether or not this is a good beginning page for a short story? Thanks!
