The journey our student ministry has been on for the last three - TopicsExpress

The journey our student ministry has been on for the last three years, to put it mildly, has been wild. Deep grievous losses and soul-exhilarating euphoria would capture the spirit of it well. This weekend, along with my partners in crime, Jonah Scott, Jamie Brouwer, Amber Sommerfeld, Debra Sommerfeld, Rebekah Eggar, and Mike Wiseman, we led a group of more students than ever to the north woods of Wisco. On these retreats, we have this time around the campfire that we call, You Rock. The essence of it is biblical affirmation of who a person is in Christ. However, at times, it ventures into confession, repentance, and speaking words of grace to specific areas of sin in our lives. Because of the Wisconsin weather, it was snowing this year. I didnt think our students would last 15 minutes. After two hours of confession, repentance, and deep, soul-encouraging, gospel affirmation, I didnt really have a category for what was occurring. To be honest, I kinda still dont. I feel like a hoisted sail in a hurricane. But I dont want the winds to die down. I think my prayer now is, God, dont calm the storm in the lives of our students---let it rage. Check out the video of our weekend below. https://youtube/watch?v=THD9BqFvRbs
