The kick off for our new Village Reading Program begins! Yesterday, Maya Jaguar intern, Manuel Pascual, visited children in the village of San Carlos to see if he could interest them in books and reading. Answer… a resounding YES! Children don’t even get introduced to reading at primary schools in these villages until they are 9 or 10 years old. Worse, without books, learning to read becomes an almost impossible task for them. Adopt-a-Village will be sharing some exciting news with you over the next month on this exciting new program. Stay tuned! Oh!
