The kids are back to school, the nights are closing in, the weather is turning colder and staying at home with warm cups of tea by the fire is starting to look very inviting… Unfortunately, for many this is not an option. On any given night around 5,000 people are homeless in Ireland. Some sleeping rough, some in emergency shelters or special ‘B&Bs.’ Some may be ‘couch-surfing’ from house to house – anywhere they can put their head down for the night. What they all have on common is that they have no safe, secure or stable place to call home. They might have a bed for the night, but no kitchen to make a cup of tea, nowhere to rest during the day, nowhere they can close their own front door and call home. Focus Ireland has 60 services across Ireland including childcare, education, housing, information and support. Our services benefited over 8,000 people in 2012. 1 in 7 of those accessing a homeless service is a child. With your help, we can change this.
