The lack of international pressure is one of the reasons the South Korean government does not ban the dog meat industry. Recently, tourist or foreigners staying in South Korea don’t make a fuss about dog meat just to be polite. So-yeon Park, President of CARE says “If we keep up our efforts with the hope that we can ban dog meat in Korea, we’ll definitely get it. But shortening the time is very important. If we want to do that, we need the active support from the international community, by helping Korean animal rights groups so dog meat can be banned in South Korea.” CARE rescued some of these dogs and it is trying to shut down the slaughterhouse so to rescue the remaining dogs.
