The last 10 days were nightmarish... My lappy Lenovo’s sound system blew off, that could not be fixed as the driver was all gone. While fixing the sound card, Windows was reset, and a backdated Windows version somehow corrupted my system totally (I have no clue how). Then while fixing that, Windows XP (the back dated version) had to be loaded and Windows 7 had to be removed. That stopped my Printer, Skype, and Wifi to be functional on my lappy. I was devastated, as I was going through some tough deadlines from clients. Then I retried fixing it the third time. This time the system totally crashed, and I could not retrieve any of my drivers, which had all my lifes work and data in it. Livid with anger and turning into Medusa, I threatened the guy with a Gorgons fury, threatening to turn him into stone soon. He fought back saying he will not be able to help me anymore and disconnected on me. Then, in 5 minutes he called me back and apologized for his behavior, and this time promised me he will assist me till everything is fixed. So, I took the laptop to him, and from afternoon, till 1030 in the night, he worked on my laptop, and was able to retrieve one drive. The other two were hidden and could not be retrieved (the data there. Gone). Anyways, he still got paid for one time’s work, and I refused to ‘reward’ (if I may use this term) him with additional payments for his mistakes (that ways everyone will commit mistakes, and would demand higher pay for reworking, counting those in their productivity, and not in their error count). Anyways, universe was hell-bent upon conspiring against me, as at the same time, the internet access on my mobile phone conked off as well, even though the settings on it were all showing as correct, and everything was paid in full. And apart from that my second lappy Acer’s mother board all acted up on me, and Acer refused to even switch on. Today strangely, my Lenovo was fixed (though the sound system is still not fixed, and I am using an external USB for the sound). At the same time, I was able to set up my wifi devise with my lappy in no time. Additionally, I was also able to set my wifi device and mobile internet, both on my phone. My acer still refuses to work. So ya, my nightmare is over (though I have lost a significant part of my data). I will now have to rebuild much from scratch, but at least I have a workable device now. And the best part of the whole story is that I did not have to turn some hapless soul into stone! :-D
