The last meeting with actor and author Marco Paolini will take place on Friday, October 4th at 11 am at the Arsenale (Álvaro Siza space in the Giardino delle Vergini), his performances being part of the Meetings on Art, a series of lectures, performances and debates organized by la Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta, in the context of the 55th International Art Exhibition curated by Massimiliano Gioni. Marco Paolini, invited by Gioni to participate in the 55th Exhibition, has met the public and told stories and thoughts during the opening of the exhibition next to his installation titled FÉN, a world map composed of hand tools and hay. The Meetings on Art – which will take place until November 24th, the last opening day of the Biennale Arte – will continue on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th October at the Giardini (ASAC Library at Central Pavilion) with the screening of two movies about Maria Lassnig and Marisa Merz, the Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement in 2013. The two following Meetings will be “Anthropology of images and art history” (October 23rd) with the well-known art historians Hans Belting and Georges Didi-Huberman, and “Myth of the self-taught artist” (November 2nd) with the curators Lynne Cooke and Ralph Rugoff. During the closing day of the 55th Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia calls together the best-known curators and managers of contemporary art institutions to discuss on the theme “Museums and Biennials” (November 24th). The second edition of the International Conference “Archives and Exhibitions” will take place November 15th and 16th, organized by la Biennale di Venezia – ASAC (Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts) in the context of the 55th Exhibition, in collaboration with Direzione Regionale per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici del Veneto - Soprintendenza Archivistica per il Veneto. The two-day debates will focus on the archives of modern and contemporary art, and will also be the occasion to present to the public the documents about the architecture archives following the Conference held in Venice last year, October 20th and 21st. “The conference Archives and Exhibitions – explains Paolo Baratta – more than a technical conference, is aimed at launching an indispensable instrument for cultural organisation, and will be held every year at each Art and Architecture Exhibition. La Biennale is thus enriched by a further, ongoing research project. The aim of Meetings on Art and the cycle of Conferences about Archives is to explore the themes, insights and suggestions offered by the exhibitions and festivals of la Biennale and open an ample space for reflection within the Exhibition Il Palazzo Enciclopedico (The Encyclopedic Palace). The meetings, organized in the heart of the exhibition spaces, will speak directly to the vast number of visitors to the Biennale Arte which include not only professionals but also art-lovers, students and audiences of every age, educational background and national origin. “La Biennale di Venezia – states Paolo Baratta - confirms itself as an institution open to knowledge and to the spirit of exploration, worth a pilgrimage. Here, the works of the artists and the work of the curators become a meeting point for the voices of the world that speak to us about our future as well as their own. Art is therefore understood as an activity that is constantly evolving.” The program could be subject to modification or integrations that will be promptly announced. The Meetings are open to the public visiting the 55th Exhibition holding an admission Ticket for the day of event, up to seats availability. Ticket price € 25,00 – Concessionary Ticket Price € 22,00 – Students/Under 26 € 14,00. Tickets are valid for one admission to the Arsenale and one to the Giardini.
