The last of my Gillman Produced pieces is one of sculptor Mark Van - TopicsExpress

The last of my Gillman Produced pieces is one of sculptor Mark Van Tine and Paul Gill’s first collaborations. “Jack” Based on another Stephen King adaptation depicts a fully possessed Jack Nicholson as the main protagonist Jack Torrance. The likeness to the actor is spot on and Mark has managed to capture the nuance of Nicholson’s trademark smirk with every wrinkle etched in. The chosen pose depicts the climax where he’s wielding an axe and chasing his family. In a lot of cases, once the likeness is achieved remaining part of the sculpt is executed pretty much by the numbers. Here, you can tell that thought and care was put into sculpting the entire piece because upon closer inspection you can see he bulge of the fingers as he’s holding the heft of the axe tightly, ready at a moment’s notice to do some critical damage. The base may be a bit on the sparse side, but it allows you to interpret it in many ways. Is it the snow drift or the souls of the trapped beginning to envelop him? Either way, it works. The bust comes in 3 pieces and is pretty straight forward in assembly. I believe by the weight it is solid cast. The casting is very good with some minimal seam lines along the fingers which should not take more than 10 minutes to clean up. :)
