The last time Gulf faced Pasco was in April 2013 for the 5A-8 District Championship in Zephyrhills. On that day Gulf came away with their first ever district title after a thorough thrashing of the Pirates, 8-2. Tonight (3/13) the ladies went east to Dade City in pursuit of their 11th win. The Bucs did just that, coming away with a nearly duplicate score victory, 8-3. The win keeps the ladies in the hunt for the elusive SAC title that Gulf has not won since the Bush era. Make that the FIRST President Bush era (1991). Rachel Gardner kept her hot bat going by depositing a towering 2 run bomb over the left-center field fence in the first inning. This was Rachels second career HR and it set the tone needed to fire up the team. She also accounted for 3 RBIs on the night. Nikki Sedivy also kept her recent surge (and slump breaking streak ) alive going 2 for 3 and a run scored. Alicia Boloyan add a couple of hits on the night as well. Madison Morlan went the distance again and could really use the break to rest up for what will be a couple of pivotal games. The Bucs are a bit banged up (Hanna McCarthy and Brittney Pressler) but both should be primed and ready for Anclote at home on March 25th. On March 27th Gulf travels to Mitchell in a key SAC matchup followed by the highly anticipated district game against River Ridge on April 1st here at GHS. The ladies would love to see a full house for all three games. Great first half ladies, now rest up, enjoy your break. We come back hungry to do what we preach at every game........ FINISH!!
