The late Hon. Ezekiel Barngetuny is said to have been the official Moi rib cracker. I rung him in 2012 and requested for a meeting. He accepted and invited me to United Club in Nairobi where he used to spend most of his time. I went along with other two young men. Personally he arranged seats for us and served us tea. He was truly an elder with respect to children. Despite old age (88 then), he would still send someone laughing. Before we put the agenda on the table, he observed the need to lend us a few advises about life; 1. Dont over believe in your ideas because they are not new. That idea may have killed many. 3. In life there is a mother. In every venture, there is a mother too. This is one who ensures you are growing well. 4. Make frequent visits to elders (succesful) in your venture. They will deal with the specifics. They will tell you where the road has potholes and how to deal with emerging issues. 5. live with your agemates but stay with Elders. Elders are trusted. Beside the wise counsel, they have resources. Resources are what every venture needs. 6. Dont entirely trust Education. But go to school! Elders are good mentors if you can create time to be with them. Hon. Ezekiel Barngetuny is one of the Wealthiest Kenyan Personalities. R. I.P Baba #Moi made people!
