The launch of more miniature satellites and cleanup activities following Monday’s Russian spacewalk were the focus of activities today aboard the orbiting International Space Station. Cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Artemyev dried out the Russian Orlan spacesuits they wore Monday for a 5-hour, 11-minute spacewalk to deploy a Peruvian nanosatellite and install and retrieve science packages on the stations exterior. NASA astronauts Steve Swanson and Reid Wiseman assembled camera gear that will be installed on a station truss during a future spacewalk. Wiseman also spoke with WJZ-TV in his hometown of Baltimore. German astronaut Alexander Gerst assisted the robotics ground team with their deployment of a new flock of NanoRacks CubeSats. More Planet Labs Dove satellites will be launched this evening and in the days ahead. Cosmonaut Max Suraev focused on maintenance tasks in the Russian segment of the station.
