The law firm of Sawko & Burroughs, P.C. has successfully collected - TopicsExpress

The law firm of Sawko & Burroughs, P.C. has successfully collected $750,000.00 in delinquent property taxes from the now defunct radio isotopes plant. This substantial payment represented approximately one-half of the total property tax delinquency owed to Denton Independent School District and the City of Denton. The delinquency dates back to approximately 2008. Mark Burroughs and Greg Sawko led our team in coming up with creative ways to work through the complexities associated with collecting a property tax delinquency secured by property containing radioactive isotopes. While property tax liens are routinely foreclosed upon, properties containing radioactive isotopes are subject to extensive government regulation that makes foreclosure next to impossible. Our firm is pleased to announce that the remainder of the tax delinquency is expected to be paid by agreement in March 2015. If all goes as planned, the new medical pharmaceutical plant will likely generate significant tax revenues for the City of Denton, Denton Independent School District and Denton County.
