The lecture and panel discussion was very well attended. There was a lot of interest in the professors model for 100% renewable. The time went very fast and I did not get the opportunity to develop my position on the topic. My position is that the model needs to be modified to address some of the realities of the Barbados environment and it needs to include a energy reduction & conservation component. My feeling is that without that we will create a new problem with a oversized renewable energy solution and create serious challenges in finding enough space to expand the plan in its current form. I also believe that the Biomass component of the model will encounter serious challenges in sourcing enough waste to operate the plant. I will write a paper on this in the near future.
