The legislative session for the 98th General Assembly begins - TopicsExpress

The legislative session for the 98th General Assembly begins January 7th. Kathy and I will attend a prayer breakfast and worship service at Concord Baptist Church on the morning of the 7th, something weve done for five years now. Then the swearing in ceremony takes place at the capitol at noon. Much of the legislative attention will be on Ferguson related bills. That topic certainly deserves some meaningful debates however much of it unfortunately will be the typical headline-grabbing, spinning of the political wheels...business as usual. I personally have bills drafted and ready to file but I try not to over do the process. I like bills that make a difference and bills that dont impose new restrictions on the majority of the hard working, law-abiding citizens! I DO have one Ferguson related bill in the works...much different than others Ive seen. Ill discuss it later. I also dont normally pre-file legislation because nothing can happen until session begins and committee assignments are completed, which typically takes a couple of weeks. As I begin my fifth year in office, Im committed to continue a straightforward style in representing the people that elected me to office. My Legislative Assistant, Rosie Bogg, and I will be dedicated to serving the people of District 138 first, and the state second, although many times what is good for one is good for the other (but not always). Ill work hard every day and do my best to make you proud of your Rep! Please say a prayer for us as we prepare to GET BUSY! You can follow the upcoming legislative session at house.mo.gov.
