The love of Jesus is the most powerful force in the universe. And it is the most misunderstood and feared force also. What I mean is this: Our reasoning says, if someone is hitting you up wanting something from you, shake em because thats how you get used. Jesus says if they ask for your coat give them that AND your shirt too! Our reasoning says you dont take drama from anyone and if someone disrespects you, handle that! Make sure it never happens again! Jesus says if someone slaps you, turn your cheek so they can have another shot. Why would Jesus ask us to do these things? Doesnt he care if someone hurts us? Of course he does. But listen, there is a place in Christ that not many are willing to go to. A place where the minor offenses of living in a fallen world among ruined people is nothing compared to knowing and walking in the love of Jesus. There is a place so deep in the heart of Jesus that what you thought was a weakness (gentleness, meekness, always forgiving) actually becomes the strength of your life. Thats when you lose your life on earth (the pride, the need to be right, the need for everything to be fair) and find your true life hidden in Christ. Thats when the power of God will move through you and the peace of God will guard you. Jesus isnt asking us to be doormats for him, hes asking us to be containers for a life changing, earth shaking power- HIS LOVE! I want to be emptied of fear and selfishness and selfish ambition and just spend my life loving others. Thats my goal in life. To showcase that ridiculous, undeserving, always giving kinda love. I want it!
