The massacre of around 150 school children in Pakistan is another - TopicsExpress

The massacre of around 150 school children in Pakistan is another example of the cowardice of the weakest among us, taking the most innocent among us. These naïve, sweet children were even asked as the snipers entered their classrooms...which ones were children of those serving in the army. Of course, they innocently (and perhaps proudly) raised their hands, and were shot point blank right then and there, in front of their fellow students. A teacher was doused with gasoline and burned alive in front of her students. Parents and siblings and other loved ones are in shock and grief, burying the heaviest caskets of their own children. What Ive noticed, learned, in my 58 years of life thus far...is that the WORLD is OBSESSED with the need to CONTROL, for it gives certain individuals and groups a sense of POWER. We see it in our own, we see it in gangs, in political parties and neighboring countries and in peers and co-workers, and yes--even family and friends. It seems to be what has always made the world go round, unfortunately the wrong way. I never understood that over-the-top desire to want to be and do better and more than anyone and everyone else. Its one thing to be ambitious; its another altogether to hurt others to obtain the desires of these dark hearts and evil minds. Are so many worldwide lacking in simple self-esteem that the only way they can get that comeuppance, that feeling of satisfaction, is to try to overcome another, others, if not to prove to others that they are indeed more worthy but to at least impress upon themselves that they just might be so?
