The mechanics have quite a bit of work to do in the Rob Austin - TopicsExpress

The mechanics have quite a bit of work to do in the Rob Austin Racing pit garage after race 1 at Official Donington Park Racing. In a really unfortunate incident Hunter Abbott Racing retired on lap 1 when a rival shoved him into a spin and, as he went off, snagged the rear of team-mate Robs Exocet Racing car which damaged its rear left wheel and surrounding bodywork. The pit stop required to make repairs left Rob two laps down but with slick tyres fitted he at least recovered to set the races fastest lap on a drying track - despite the bodywork still scoring his left rear tyre. Rob said: Hunter actually came up and apologised but Ive told him he doesnt need to - it was totally out of his hands and its motor racing. I feel sorry for him because hed made a good start and I think wed both have come on strong as the race progressed. Im right at the back for the start of race 2 so will be really going for it. I have to. Hunter added: I felt I was clear of Scott so was tucking in behind Rob into the Old Hairpin and suddenly thwack. We need to look at the damage and also check the engine didnt ingest any gravel.
