The merchant of heaven He is not an ordinary merchant and He is - TopicsExpress

The merchant of heaven He is not an ordinary merchant and He is not from this earth. He has come down from heaven (John 3:13) and He sells lives eternal. Lives eternal with a perfect body (1 Cor. 15:52), in a perfect place. The greatest news is that - it is free of cost (Ephesians 2:8-9), although it is not cheap. This heavenly merchant spelled out the authenticity of his claim, by three demonstrations – resurrections of Jairus’ daughter (Mark5:21-43), the widow’s son (Luke 7:11-15) and Lazarus (John 11:37-44). The world may offer many things. Politicians utilizes their charisma and rhetoric to promise many incredible things. Entertainers use their abilities to generate emotion and many people identify with them. Athletes amaze crowds with their physical skills and tries to satisfy the masses. Worldly offers may last for either 30 or 40 or even 70 years. After some time your prowess will decline, and you will deteriorate and finally die, leaving no trace. But what did Jesus offer? Was it reduced unemployment? Higher pays? Amazing athletic skills? Incredible singing ability? Theatrical acting skills? Jesus offered none of these. He offered something, which nobody else can deliver – eternal life. Only he has eternal life with him (John 3:16), because he is the life and resurrection (John 11:25). An eternal life, in a perfect place where “…God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain …“(Rev. 21:4) The world tries to sell its stuff through mind dazzling media advertisements. However Jesus speaks to our inner minds quietly and humbly through His Word. He said “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26) Just think, why this promise of eternal life is so crucial and important to us? Where would we be without it? What hope would you have for anything else at all? This is our hope. The resurrection to eternal life at the end of the age, when Jesus will come and “the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever” (Dan. 7:18).
