The message of the Cross is by far the most challenging message Ive ever confronted in my entire life. On one hand it hits me very hard every time I hear it; on the other hand its something so authentic and beautiful that I cannot but stand amazed. So what does the Cross stand for? First of all, it is a powerful message from God the Father to all of humanity, “Youre sins have been paid for! My Son took Your place on the wooden cross, so that You could go free.” The once-and-for-all nature of Jesus work on the cross is so heavy that the Bible declares them to be cursed who still try to be good in Gods sight by relying on their own deeds! (Rom 10:3, Gal 3:10) Secondly, the message of the Cross challenges our ways of life. God knows our pain and hurt, for He became a partaker in them, and He is willing to help us through it all (Hebrews 2:18). In the midst of all the brokenness of this world, Jesus showed us the way to being a blessing and bring healing: “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’” Jesus is still saying the same words “to all”, including you and me.
