The missing University of Eldoret student leader has been found dumped at Chepkanga swamp in Uasin Gishu County. Patrick Lomadi was found Thursday morning, a day after UoE students paralysed learning to protest his “kidnap”. Lomadi, the finance director of University of Eldoret Students Organization (UESO) disappeared from his campus residence on Tuesday evening. This was the second ordeal of kidnap for the third year Agro-economics student. He suffered another kidnap on May 5, 2014. Speaking to The Standard at the police station where he had been escorted to make a statement, Lomadi narrated the events that led to his two-day disappearance. “I was walking to a nearby shopping centre to take supper. I was accosted by two men who approached me on pretext of making an inquiry about a student loan. They forced me into a waiting car where I was blindfolded. My hands and feet were also tied,” he recalled. It is alleged that Lomadi fell out with another influential student after failing to award him a major business tender in the university. The student, who is said to wield a lot of power, has allegedly put the finance director under heavy blackmail and threats to coerce him to favor him in tendering processes. The student leader cannot locate the place his kidnappers held him for two nights as he was blindfolded all through his ordeal. He lost Sh 10, 000, ATM card and pin, sim card and Mpesa pin during the kidnap. Police suspect suspect Lomadi’s colleague of being behind the kidnap. “We have arrested two suspects, a student and an outsider and we are conducting investigations,”Eldoret East OCPD Nelson Taliti said.
