The mission of a racist system is to become subtle, invisible, to hide its very presence; not from those who would resist it, but from those who would take action if they knew how tilted the game really was. In the days of instant gratification and communication, the systematic rigging of the game goes unnoticed because the attitudes have not changed, only the names have. Segregation has not disappeared, it has only changed faces. Where once it would be so overt as to deny someone from using a water fountain or a restroom, its now cleverly selective in felony prosecution, and the same can be said for literacy tests and poll taxes. Its hard to know the game is rigged when youre not rolling the loaded die. Of course all lives matter. Of course, religious and secular perspectives alike acknowledge the value of human life and existence. Saying that black lives matter is not suggesting that other lives do not; its illuminating the fact that some have been ruined to continue the structure of a system that can only continue to exist in its self-created darkness. Systematic racism is not always so obvious as to asphyxiate a man repeatedly saying that he cannot breathe. Its selective education, selective information, and keeping sides that could be allies continuously fighting against each other. Its convincing good people that other good people are bad while the puppetmasters tug at the strings. I do not believe most people are racist, but in no way can I state that we live in a post-racial society. However, there is something inherently strange about using the hashtag AllLivesMatter to say incredibly racist things. #MissingThePoint
