The most irritating and jaded quote I have ever come across is, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people”. How can you conceive brilliant ideas if you don’t keep people at the center of your faculty of rustling up great ideas? How can you implement your so-called great ideas if you do not have complete knowledge of the relevant history? If thinking about people were so ‘small mind’ an act, could Mahatma Gandhi have been able to garner such a tremendous and rock-solid following for his timeless ideas called ‘Nonviolence’ and ‘Noncooperation’? I would say understanding people perfectly is one of the rarest skills. The entire world functions because, to some extent, people understand people. Thinking about people has immense value because it touches our heart and soul. And that is what human life is all about. Maybe, it is time to modify this quote to: “Great minds discuss ideas, events, and people all at the same time; average minds discuss dollar rates, and small minds discuss fear of failure”.
