The most legendary Hollywood couple, on and off screen, to me was Bogie and Bacall (I love their movies). And I think because they were so truly in love and secure in that love in real life. I had pleasure of meeting Ms. Bacall in NYC when she was in Waiting in the Wings- was dead of February winter and she was looking for a smoke after the show, and came springing out the front of the theatre in gown & fur coat, cracking to me and my friends you got a light, no one at the stage door smokes. Awed , we came up with a lighter for her as she asked us about our lives and what restaurant we liked nearby the theatre. Classy and real, I mourned her death this year but know she is with her Bogie now. Below shot is of her with him and Marilyn Monroe in 1953. They hung out at parties, clubs and restaurants often during golden age. Were rumors of course- was Bogie having a 3-way relation so to speak. However, years later Lauren would explain Marilyn felt she could be her friend because she was a woman not threatened by her and Bogie saw her as a just one of the gang. I imagine for a star like Marilyn it was a total joy to be with them, no pressure, could talk, relax and such. Anyways, Bogie and Bacall- a true couple.
