The mysterious object I mentioned yesterday (Pic1) - the answer is gripping handle for roast leg of lamb! It is attached to the bone end to be able to carve the meat without getting your fingertips burned (Pic2). We were introduced to it over a lovely Saturday lunch in a beautifully traditonal setting (Pic3).
