The name of this Elite Fighting group is The Granite Mountain Hot Shot Team. This is their home base, Prescott AZ. They fought and saved homes n lives on Granite Mountain, under 10 miles from my home. They they went to NM to help there. They just returned. This fire started last Fri when lightening struck on that mountain. The were the first to go in, to clear brush, cut n removed whatever to help firefighters fight the fire. It was burning hot, they were doing their job when the winds changed and sent the winds pushing the firestorm onto these brave heroes. They had their shelter sheets but they were destroyed at 500 degrees. The fire may have been over 1000 degrees. This fire is not finished. It is still burning down the mountain, into the valleys, more homes, more lives in danger. The winds r 30mph, it is 102 degrees, plus the winds and temp of the fire itself. Pray for their families and all the fighters who r working this dangerous and deadly fire.
