The natural water hole of Mahlasela Pan is roughly one mile - 1.6 kilometers from the roosters and the highway that is why we can hear road noise and we hear the roosters from the village on the tembe cam The lodge is about 3 miles west of the pan. water for the pan - comes by two 2 water pumps - and, one solar powered at the hide . the hide at tembe where the cam is distance from the camera to the pan ( waterhole ) 300 ft - 100 yards - or 91 meters the lights for the cam - and the cam is also solar powered- so when many days of cloudy weather - the batteries run low and the lights will not work- thuss darkness on the cam - the light bar now stands vertical as shown in photo The microphone is in the cement observation pit on the left end of the pan when you watch the cam - it is very sensitive and pick up sound a mile away -- the red lid with vern opening it - guided visitors can sit in the mahlasela hide and watch the pan and enjoy the wildlife of the park -
