The nature of Grand Isle is always beautiful and occasionally its downright amazing. The Louisiana birding community was astonished yesterday when distinguished LSU Professor Van Remsen located a very rare Lucys Warbler on the Nature Conservancy property. This bird would normally be found in southern Arizona and norther Mexico! It obviously knows what we know - this is one very special island, one of the last places to harbor such wonderful coastal habitat. Heres a photo taken this morning by Dr. Erik Johnson, Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon Louisiana. It was a thrilling sighting!
