The nerve of this Kid to record these epic tracks, while introducing a new guitarist and his brand new band in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE and to have the audacity to use these raw tracks, including the DAYUM title track of not only his new album, but of the FREAKING MOVIE (which at the time and even by todays standards was a pretty cold & bold ass move in and of itself) is simply PURE GENIUS!! Talk about catching lightening in a bottle, this is putting your purple balls on the line, hitting it, quitting it and going for broke. This album and movie just celebrated its 30th year anniversary and still remains one of Princes most loved and greatest hits. I was lucky enough to catch Prince at the Historic Fillmore Theater in San Francisco this year and I gotta say, 30 years later hes better than ever!! The genius of this cat is astonishing when you consider the music he has released to the public is the absolute tip of the iceberg in terms of what hes recorded compared to the vault of music hes sitting on. Im certain if his full catalog ever hits the streets, were all gonna go crazy, I mean lets get nuts and throw us in the trucks crazy...
